Abstract

Improving the capacity of the Sido Makmur livestock group in managing Cross Merino sheep breeding and reproduction is the initial stage of community service activities. This program focuses on socialization and counseling activities regarding the importance of organic selenium as an essential microelement in feed for the physiological process of reproduction as well as the application of breeding management that includes selection techniques for prospective Cross Merino sheep sires and sires. The implementation method includes participatory counseling, interactive discussions, and simple demonstrations related to the identification of superior qualitative and quantitative traits possessed by sheep. This activity aims to provide livestock groups with a comprehensive overview of the role of micromineral nutrition on reproductive performance and the importance of selection in improving the genetic quality of sheep. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants' understanding of the basic concepts of sheep breeding and reproduction, which will form the basis for the application of feed technology with organic selenium supplements in the next activity stage.
